Is the Witch Wound Affecting You?

Lately in client sessions, I've been witnessing a pattern of the witch wound arising within the hearts of incredible people (whose magic is so needed in the world). I've been feeling called to create an essence blend for this pain for quite some time, but the exact formula hasn't quite revealed itself yet.

From a logical mind perspective, I think this might be because the witch wound is quite multi-faceted and complex. There's so much emotion wrapped up in it, and a large majority of that pain is not actually ours. It comes from memories of past lives and generational trauma that we carry in our blood and bones.

The good news is, there are flowers that can act for a healing balm for wherever this wound is impacting you.

Do you see yourself in these manifestations of the witch wound?

1. Fear of Using Your Voice

When I feel into the witch wound in people's energies, it often shows up in the throat. There's a sensation of “swallowing your words”, holding back what you know would be healing to share with the world out of a fear of being persecuted, judged, or shamed.

In this manifestation, it's important to free up our forms of expression through the voice. Flowers like cosmos and delphinium can help.

COSMOS: This flower is here to help you tease out your unique perception of the gems you uncover along the way and give you the courage to share it widely in your own voice.

DELPHINIUM: This ally is perfect for when you're ready to face the fears that have been holding you back from up-leveling and assists by creating a sense of confidence in yourself as you move through the process.

2. Fear of Being Seen

Hand-in-hand with the fear of using your voice comes the fear of being seen. The witch wound can create a sense of “shut-down” where we make ourselves smaller or intentionally where invisibility cloaks out of fear of being noticed. This can also show up as shape-shifting or changing who we are based on who we're around.

While there's amazing wisdom in this defense mechanism, it can make us and others feel more alone. It only takes one brave witch to come out of the broom closet to create space for others to feel safe to do the same. For the courage to come out, call on dandelion or daffodil.

DANDELION: When parts of the self are trying to keep you small and hidden, the flower essence of Dandelion helps you rise towards the vision for your more expansive potential.

DAFFODIL: Daffodil helps strengthen our energy fields, allowing us to move out into the world despite any anxiety, hesitation, or fear of being seen. It reminds us that we are worthy and are meant to shine our light.

3. Fear of Your Power

Healers or witches often carry a strong creative (which is also sexual) energy that draws people to them like magnets. This energy holds a palpable sense of power. There may have been very real experiences in this present life where this power has created traumatic or painful situations in your life.

As a result, you might have learned shut down your creative energy, in hopes of being safe. However, this creative energy is our pulsing life force, our shakti. It's vital for our health and well-being that it's well-nurtured and expressed. In healing the witch wound, we have to unlearn the ways we've shut down our creative expression out of fear of our power to both create and destroy. Wild iris and pomegranate are magical allies in helping you alchemize this fear.

WILD IRIS: With Wild Iris's assistance, you might begin to remember that you, too, are the Divine expression itself, and that all you create, you create through Love energy.

POMEGRANATE: Reclaim your wild and feral nature with the essence of Pomegranate. Liberate the innate feminine creativity you’ve kept locked away because societal narratives told you this was not okay. Call this energy back into your being, and from this place, express joyfully with more wholeness and holiness.

4. Deep-Seated Past Life Memories

As mentioned previously, much of this wounding lives within our blood and bones. It is not ours, but it is something we have carried through generations. For this reason, healing the witch wound is an incredibly compassionate act, for when we choose to heal, we are creating ripples of healing backwards and forwards in time.

Flower essences area the perfect medicine to heal what lives within the waters of the collective unconscious. They work on the subtle level to imbue a new frequency. Allies like bloodroot and comfrey can help to transform these karmic cycles once and for all.

BLOODROOT: This ally can also help you cut through the binding of any karmic patterns on the personal, ancestral, and cultural levels. With its assistance, you can transform any heaviness or darkness into light.

COMFREY: Comfrey is known as a master healer. t helps us overcome trauma, abuse, or shock from this life (or past lives) that we might have a hard time seeing for ourselves. This ally helps us by not forcing us to go into the story, but rather to help heal fragmentation through the etheric body.

5. Un-belonging

As a result of having to hide or shapeshift yourself, it's highly likely that you've experienced feeling like you don't belong. You might be the black sheep in your family, community, or friend group – the one who always feels on the outside looking in.

This is a direct result of feeling like you've had to hide your true essence. As counter-intuitive as it might sound, when we fully embrace our authentic, weird selves, we're much more likely to find a sense of a belonging (because our frequency calls in people who resonate). Setting down the defenses and becoming more of who we truly are is the healing balm we need. Columbine and goldenrod help us do just that.

COLUMBINE: Columbine helps you see and express your uniqueness. If you're looking for support in connecting to what makes you who you are and how you can create from that place, this is a beautiful essence to work with.

GOLDENROD: Goldenrod acts as a light to lead the way, helping you stay true to yourself no matter who or what is influencing you. This is the perfect ally if you're looking to develop more confidence in yourself and trust your ability to show up as all of who you are in the world.

6. The Sister Wound

The sister wound is a part of the programming we've picked up from the witch wound. Fear was used as a tool to fracture trust between women. The witch hunts taught us that only certain kinds of power were allowed. This scarcity twisted into comparison, competition, and mistrust. Healing circles, lineage knowledge, and women’s gathering spaces were dismantled. The loss of communal support created isolation that still echoes today.

Healing this wound asks us to dig deep to see the competitive instinct for what it is: an outdated survival tactic that is no longer necessary. When we look to nature, all of life collaborates to achieve greatness. We are stronger together. We can begin to heal this fracturing through allies like lunaria and bellflower.

LUNARIA: Lunaria can highlight the shadowy side of the feminine, when emotions can be leveraged to manipulate others into providing what one needs. Lunaria asks you to transform this so that you don’t subtly manipulate the situation to meet your needs, but instead voice them directly. This plant, sometimes known as Honesty, can assist you in connecting with truth and balance within yourself by helping you to excavate unconscious patterns that play out in your energy field.

BELLFLOWER: Bellflower helps you to unshackle yourself from the stories of your past that have limited you, so that you can become the healing balm you need.

If you witness yourself in these manifestations of the witch wound, I hope you'll lean into the support of all the plant spirit allies who are waiting to help you heal.

While flower essences don’t erase history we hold in our bodies, they can help us metabolize it. They bring the nervous system back into safety. They open the heart. They help us trust our intuition again. Most importantly, they assist in rewriting the subconscious narratives that say it's not safe to shine. Because now more than ever, the world needs your healing light.
